Legora is a Stockholm-based legal AI platform — formerly known as Leya — built from the ground up for law firms rather than retrofitted from a general-purpose chatbot. Founded in 2023 by Max Junestrand and Sigge Labor, it raised an $80m Series B in early 2026 led by Bain Capital Ventures and now serves 250+ legal teams across 16 countries, including major US and European firms.
Where ChatGPT and Claude are generalist tools you can point at legal work, Legora treats legal work as the entire product. Its Tabular Review feature can analyse thousands of contracts simultaneously and surface clause comparisons in a structured grid. Its Word add-in drafts and redlines using firm precedents. Research function pulls from internal DMS systems (iManage, SharePoint), legal databases, and the open web — with cited sources, not hallucinated ones.
For solo solicitors and small firms, Legora is overkill and over-budget. For firms doing serious volume on contract review, due diligence, or compliance work, it's increasingly the obvious answer — and according to Bain's diligence, lawyers consistently rate it above Harvey on output quality and workflow completion.
